Having gone through many of my own difficulties in the past and being sceptical myself, I turned to counselling for help. I was amazed at the difference it made to all aspects of my life and this experience inspired me to train to be a psychotherapist so that I could help others in the same way. That was 19 years ago, and I am happy to say that I still love my work. I’m passionate about learning more both professionally and personally and I feel immensely privileged to be in the position to help others reach their full potential.
I am a qualified psychotherapist for couples and individuals. In addition to my foundational training as an integrative psychotherapist, I am trained in high intensity cognitive behavioural therapy and EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) which means that I am able to offer evidence based interventions for a variety of difficulties including anxiety disorders and depression. If you are wondering which type of therapy would be most suited for you please read the specific pages for each or contact me to talk it through.
I am also a certified Emotionally Focused Couples and Family therapist (EFT). EFT is an evidence based therapy which was developed in the US and is slowly emerging as the gold standard couples therapy treatment in the UK too. It is a model that is based on the science of attachment.
In addition to my private practice I have worked in many schools throughout West Sussex helping children overcome emotional problems, run mindfulness groups, and worked for the NHS adult mental health and eating disorders service as a psychological therapist.
Through my own personal and professional life, I am aware of how we can all experience a myriad of success and struggles from which my learning doesn’t stop! I feel passionate about therapy and counselling and believe in the capacity for us all to change how we live our lives if things are not working as we want them to. This can be the case even with the most difficult of experiences or pasts. I appreciate the courage it takes to explore ourselves and the patterns that may be repeated in our lives through this therapeutic process and feel privileged and humbled to be a part of people’s lives whilst we work together.
As a qualified and accredited Humanistic Integrative Therapist, Emotionally Focused Certified Therapist and Arts Psychotherapist with over 30 years’ experience I have worked therapeutically with people of all ages, abilities, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation in many different settings including schools, hospitals, hospices, family centres, and for charitable organisations. Having trained in a variety of different psychotherapeutic theories and techniques including Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) means I can tailor my approach to suit the needs of each person I work with. I am committed to helping you gain a deeper understanding of where you are in your life and finding a way forward to how you want your life to be, whatever your issue. For other therapists I am a qualified supervisor.
